What a time we are living in. So much going on around us. We are fighting spiritual as well as physical and emotional battles.
Ephesians 6:11-18
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
We are so wonderfully blessed to have a God who never sends us into battle alone and unarmed. He equips us with the necessary armor that is needed to see us through.
Our armor consists of:
The Belt of Truth
A Roman soldier never went into battle without his belt. It was constructed of metal and heavy leather. It was where the soldier carried his sword. A Christian is never truly ready for battle until he girds himself with the Truth. The Gospel is the Truth. We must be grounded in the Word so we do not fall for lies of the enemy.
The Breastplate of Righteousness
A soldier would wear a breastplate which would protect his vital organs. As a Christian our breastplate is the Righteousness of Christ. We are nothing without HIM. Totally week, but we are able to deflect the enemy’s attacks by being covered in the Word. Being covered by the Righteousness of Jesus HE is our protection
The Sandals of the Gospel of Peace
A soldier wore sandals that covered their feet to protect them as they walked miles. Their sandals also had spikes on the soles of them to help keep a firm foundation. Our faith is only as strong as its foundation. So we need to dig our feet into the ground and stand firm. We know that we are grounded in the Lord. Stand Firm
Shield of Faith
Shields of the soldiers we often made from leather, canvas, wood or metal. They were used to protect oneself from arrows. At time the shields would be soaked in water to extinguish the fiery arrows that came their way. Faith what a remarkable word. When you place your faith in Jesus we can stand against the fiercest storm or the strongest enemy. With Faith in Jesus we have the power to tell a mountain to move. If we only had enough belief in our Faith
Helmet of Salvation
A helmet was used to protect the head. The enemy loves to attack our head. Here he can cause us to doubt. He gets into our minds and creates fear. In our head he can steal our joy and our peace. The helmet protects us from the mental attacks of the enemy. Salvation is the filling of the Holy Spirit. We are made strong through Him. Our salvation is a result of the Love of Christ. We guard our mind so the enemy cannot confuse us and make us doubt the gift that was given to us by our Lord.
Sword of the Spirit
The sword is a powerful piece of the soldier’s armor. With the sword the soldier can defend but unlike the other parts of his armor he can attack. When the enemy comes at us we don’t have to take it we can use the scriptures to fight back. Our sword is powerful because it is the living breathing WORD OF GOD.
Prayer
Through it all prayer is such a powerful weapon. It is our direct line to God. It keeps us connected to him. Through prayer we build our relationship with HIM. When we pray it is like the whole suit of armor becomes charged and we are like David’s against Goliath….Victorious.
Put on the Whole Armor of God
Stay Prayerful
Keep your eyes on God
Be Victorious
God Bless You
