My friend and I would joke about the “P” word. That word is Patience. Ugh there I said it. We would tease as if it were a scary word. The truth be told patience is not a scary word it is a learning word. When we are going through difficult times we ask for Patience but what we really think is HURRY UP!!!
We learn to have patience through trials and lessons. While we are in the valleys we grow and learn to depend and rely on God. To have patience. I recently read an article that referred to patience as “faith learning” What a great way to look at it. While we are going through the struggles we are learning. God id teaching us to let go of the reins and trust HIM.
L. Todd Budge wrote: Trusting in the Lord includes trusting in HIS timing and requires patience and endurance that outlasts the storms of life,
Romans 5: 1-5
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans 12:12
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer
Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
My friend and I would never utter the word patience saying it would bring tribulation and hardships. Let me tell you, I could write a book over all the mistakes and wrong turns I’ve made in my life, All the “bad breaks “ that came my way. But through it all Jesus my Lord and Savior was always there beside me. I learned to be Faithful to Him knowing I would never be forsaken. And I learned that with each and every trial I was growing stronger in the Lord. I learned how to increase my relationship with Jesus through Prayer.
I learned that the “P” word was really not so bad.
Learning Patience isn’t ever a pleasant experience but the result so much outweighs that valley. When we look back and only see one set of footprints know Jesus carried us through.
I marvel at how Patient Jesus is with us his rebellious children, Yet He lovingly guides us on the path we are to be on.
So the next time you are needing the “p” word Pray and ask the Lord to reveal the lesson that He is showing you. I promise the word Patience won’t be so scary anymore.
God Bless You
